Program Overview
This master’s in public health program is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH®10) . It prepares you to address today’s most complex health issues. Courses examine how communities in the U.S. and abroad implement health polices to promote wellness and prevent the spread of diseases.
Learners discuss the scientific, psychological, and sociological aspects of current public health policies and practices. With a focus on emergency and disaster management, AMU’s online MPH program also covers:

Students review how quarantines and other crisis-management strategies help safeguard vulnerable populations from disease outbreaks. Courses emphasize emergency preparedness, and learners complete several FEMA certificates as they progress thorough the curriculum. The program also incorporates hands-on learning through a practicum, and students may conclude their studies with either a comprehensive exam or a capstone project that demonstrates synthesis of foundational and concentration competencies.

This MPH program helps prepare students to sit for the Certified in Public Health (CPH) exam administered by the National Board of Public Health Examiners. From leadership principles to disease-prevention strategies, coursework familiarizes learners with the core subject areas covered in the exam.
AMU’s curriculum also emphasizes emergency preparedness and disaster management, and students complete this online program with several FEMA-issued certificates.

This Master of Public Health (MPH) program equips students with advanced analytical and communication skills to prepare them to lead health promotion and disease prevention efforts. Coursework also exercises critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities as learners discuss the objectives of public and community health organizations.

Yes. In 2017, AMU became the first fully online institution to have its MPH program earn CEPH accreditation. The program’s accreditation has since been reaffirmed through 2029. This distinction confirms that our program meets the competencies established by the Council on Education for Public Health.
